What Do You See? What’s Your Perspective?
Imagine seeing an old rusted out car in field. How would you view that car? What would you see? Most people would likely see a piece of junk rotting away in an old building. Some might see a treasure – a vehicle they can restore into something beautiful. Another friend of mine would see it beautiful as it is – something with texture and dimension that would add beauty, character, intrigue to a photo shoot.
What do you see when you look in the mirror?
Do you see a piece of junk that’s worthless? Do you see yourself as a work in progress, that is growing into something beautiful? Or do you see something that has had some damage over the years, but is a beautiful addition to this world?
If you see yourself as junk, you have believed a lie. The great deceiver is wonderful at what he does. He likes to convince us that we are no good. He tells us that we have messed up more than we can ever be forgiven. Moreover, he tells us that we are damaged and no one wants us.
There was a time in my life that I saw myself as the piece of junk. Therefore, I didn’t feel worthy of anything special. Subsequently, I poured myself into what I could accomplish through my studies and determination. My thought process was that if I could just be “successful” enough, I would feel better about myself. Unfortunately, it didn’t.
At that time, I thought success was a destination. It was a place where, if I just worked hard enough to get there, I could rest a bit. I didn’t realize that all that striving wasn’t going to get me any closer to my goal. It also wasn’t going to fill up that unworthiness that I felt.
I learned that God was the only thing that could do that for me. The thing that took the longest to learn was that I didn’t need to strive for His love and acceptance. As a result, He loves me the way I am, no matter what I’ve done, and whether or not I’m on fire for Him.
God doesn’t make junk. Therefore, you are intricately designed by Him. You are on this earth on purpose, for a purpose. It’s time to awaken to who He created you to be.
You are deeply loved and accepted by Him. Seek truth to help you to begin the restoration process. I will tell you, though, restoration is not easy. It is painful. It will feel like you are broken to a million pieces. However, God puts you back together in a beautiful picture that you didn’t know you were capable of. You will see what you have to offer the world.
I have been on a journey of understanding how deeply loved I am for many years. Every time I thought I knew who God was and who He created me to be, he’d show me more. It wasn’t until I felt like I was broken into a million tiny pieces, that I fully understood his love for me and how much He loves all of His creation.
Honestly, It doesn’t matter what choices you’ve made in the past. It doesn’t matter what choices you’ve made presently. Jesus still loves you. He wants you to look to Him and trust in him when storms arise.
He wants you to know how much he loves you and will help you through.
Every challenge you face is allowed to strengthen you and give you an avenue to help others. Keep moving and don’t sit down in the midst of the storm. Above all, you will see how God turns it into a situation for His Glory.
If you are willing to go through the process, you will be grateful for the outcome. Do you have a mentor in your life to lead you and guide you? If not, please don’t wander through life lonely. Email me and we will connect.
If you see yourself as a beautiful addition to the world, congratulations! You are one of the few. Consequently, you likely haven’t gotten there without a lot of work and restoration of your own. You probably have had a mentor through your life to help you to find truth in this challenging world. Please don’t stop. There’s always more to learn and more ways to grow. Keep growing and you will certainly have a very fulfilling life.
“Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
